Vegeria somehow manages to make to make delicious Tex-Mex both Vegan and, sometimes, gluten-free as well, and this is no easy feat! You won't find many vegetarian or vegan offerings in the city that eats brisket in its sleep, but Vegeria is a surprising stand-out, even for non-vegetarian lovers. Vegeria is the only Tex-Mex Vegan restaurant in town and offers super tasty cuisine such as potato, corn and poblano flautas, that is not only healthy but fresh and inexpensive. They offer a beautiful patio for dining and as an added bonus, it's attached to a cute little bookstore for browsing while you wait for your food. Vegeria also sports their own gluten-free bakery. Bakery Lorraine started out as a hole in the wall on Grayson street. Now at the Pearl Brewery in a much larger, more upscale location, they have earned a reputation as the cafe to go for the most delicious sandwiches and pastries. There is nothing more comforting or homey than fresh baked pastries made from scratch, and Bakery Lorraine puts a sprinkle of TLC on everything they make. Jeremy and Anne met while working for Thomas Keller at Bouchon Bakery in the Napa Valley, California and have been baking together ever since. They honed their skills in different kitchens around the San Francisco Bay Area before moving to San Antonio in the summer of 2010. In 2011 they established Bakery Lorraine, through which they wish to share their craftsmanship with you. Every item that they put out is handmade with the utmost care and attention to detail.

The staff is overwhelmingly friendly, encouraging you to try the wide variety of samples, from carrot cake, salted peanut butter cups, and Mexican chocolate brownies. Make sure to ask which items are gluten-free, as this is not a dedicated gluten-free bakery but comes with a variety of wonderful options. They have an amazing honey cheesecake made with Greek yogurt, but it tastes just as decadent and delicious as any cheesecake you've every tasted. Of course they have an array of cupcakes from the Elvis cupcake with peanut butter frosting to the Lemon Blueberry Pancake cupcake. Yum! Bird Bakery also serves lunch and dinner in a chic atmosphere.

What's even more is that 5 Points Local cares to source quality ingredients that are healthful to your body, as well as delicious, although truth be told, they sometimes do not skimp on the calories. If you're looking to indulge in some delicious pastries - both savory and sweet - you can do that here. It's also possible to dig into a satisfying meal that is entirely guilt-free. You decide, based on your mood and how tight your pants are fitting at the moment. Their brunch on Sundays is fantastic... you can enjoy biscuits and gravy and even some classic gluten-free pancakes - which means good ole American deliciousness! If you're not too full afterwards, pop on in for a yoga class to work it off!
