Homemade infusions — Photo courtesy of courtesy of the Water LibraryWhile Bangkok has received its share of molecular gastronomy type restaurants, and while the Water Library has already gained a reputation as one of the most upscale and exclusive restaurants in Bangkok, it's new watering hole will have you returning for more, with some spectacular mixology and taste bud-tingling cocktails.

Located in fashionable Thong Lor, the Water Library should become a fixture for creative types, businessmen and anyone who loves a good pour and is willing to spend a bit in order to receive the best. Walking in, one is surrounded by glass-enclosed wine cellars, which are home to some 400 brands of the world's best wines. And, connoisseurs will be overjoyed to plunk themselves down on the plush leather sofas and chairs found here to enjoy a bottle of their favorite vintage.Marko Gardelliano creating cocktail magic — Photo courtesy of courtesy of the Water Library
But perhaps even better are the cocktails, which are the brainchild of the wildly creative Italian mixologist Mirko Gardelliano, who has won accolades such as Bartender of the Year in Germany several times over in his illustrious and long career. Not only does the Water Library have its own infusions such as homemade vodka with chilies or gin with basil, but Gardelliano mixes up inventive concoctions to die for.
Selections include the I Love Bangkok, made with homemade Johnny Walker Black Label Chili and chocolate liquor cream, or the innovative nitrogen apple daiquiri, prepared at your table with rum, sugar cane, fresh apple and lime, and nitrogen. His latest addition is a wonderful infusion made from gummy bears, and you are guaranteed to leave this delightful spot with a perfect buzz, not to mention a hankering to try every drink on the menu.
