The U properties are a new luxury hotel brand created by award-winning Absolute Hotel Services, who have already opened snazzy U hotels in Chiang Mai and Phuket amongst other places. Now they add Bangkok to their list, with the recent opening of the stylish new U Sukhumvit, located in a quiet alley off of busy Sukhumvit Road.
U Sukhumvit combines a modern living style with plenty of traditional touches. The design of the 82 rooms here were created by Evaristti Studios of Denmark, run by international luminary design artist Marco Evaristti.
Their concept here was to create a space that showcases the four different regions of Thailand: North, Isan (northeast), South and Central. The different rooms show off the local traditions, designs and cultures of each of these diverse areas.

Rooms come with luxury bed linens; rain showers; in-room VDA systems controlling movies, music and room service; and plenty of other amenities befitting a deluxe hotel. Additionally, all rooms come with free hi-speed wireless internet, which is also found throughout the building.
The hotel also has a unique U Choose program, whereby guests can choose their own selection of soaps, teas, pillows, mini bar items and iPod music, tailor-making their stay to suit their own moods and needs.
Another unique policy that makes the U so personalized and guest-friendly includes a 24-hour check-in policy, meaning guests have use of their room for 24 hours from the moment of check-in. Plus, Anywhere Anytime breakfast service means that if you want breakfast in bed in the afternoon, well, U is going to cater to you!.
Rooms and service aside, the U Sukhumvit also has a lovely infinity edge swimming pool up on the roof, as well as a state-of-the-art fitness center to work out in. It's open 24 hours a day, of course.

For dining, U's Bangkok hotel features Uzzie, a Pan Asian restaurant with an open kitchen, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The restaurant serves a variety of fare ranging from Thai to Western.
But if you feel like heading out for a meal, busy Sukhumvit Road is home to hundreds of classy restaurants, offering every type of cuisine. U Sukhumvit runs a complimentary tuk tuk shuttle that carries visitors to the nearby Asok Skytrain and MRT subway stations.
It's rare to find such personalized services and customer-focused touches combined with boutique lodging in such a prime heart-of-it-all location. The U Sukhumvit certainly looks set to be a distinct and remarkable player in the Bangkok hotel scene for years to come.
