Bored of your usual temple sightseeing tours? If you are looking for a different way to experience Bangkok, then this novel experiential travel activity is just for you. GoSnoop is a detective game suitable for kids, families, individuals, and even large groups that want a fun and unique team-building experience while doing a bit of sightseeing. Set in the old city on Rattanakosin Island, it takes in some of Bangkok's most historic neighbourhoods and sights, both touristic and off the beaten path, while pitting contestants against the clock and each other in an action packed mystery game.
Starting off at the Golden Mount (Wat Saket), players are given the following mystery: A Mr. Somsak and his family have gone missing, and a few witnesses and the police have only left a few clues behind, with your job being to solve the crime and beat out the other teams in doing so. At each tourist site, your game-playing guidebook gives historical information on the particular attraction, and then you have to use clues on site to help unravel the mystery (for example, a monkey statue at the Golden Mount provides the key to opening up a locked coin purse that is in your clue bag, giving you an ID card needed to help solve the crime).
From here one moves on through some of Bangkok's most atmospheric and unique neighborhoods. You visit Baan Bat, the historic monks alms' bowl making center, where locals have crafted monks begging bowls continuously since the 1700s, and then head down to Phraeng Phuton, a square full of neo-classical shophouses dating from the Rama V era in the early 1900s.
Locals also are involved in the action as well. One of the clues to solve the crime is written on a coupon giving you a free scoop of ice cream at Natthaporn, a shop that has been making homemade coconut and mango ice cream for close to 60 years.
The pace is action packed, you get a full morning or afternoon of walking (you have three hours to solve the crime), and yet leisurely enough to stop for snacks at all the great street food market areas the game passes through. It's suitable for the entire family, and GoSnoop even runs teambuilding events for corporate or large groups.
Besides the sights and insight into old Bangkok, GoSnoop affords one a great chance to test ones powers of deduction and reasoning, and is a truly unique way to get to experience some of the best that Bangkok has to offer.
