The Movenpick Hotel brand is noted worldwide for its combination of great hospitality and superb relaxed fine dining, so it comes as no surprise that the Bangkok branch's signature restaurant Lelawadee delivers on all fronts. However there are plenty of pleasant surprises awaiting guests who venture in to the spacious dining room surrounded by leafy gardens, as Lelawadee not only turns out some fine Thai fare, but excels in plenty of other treats.
In addition to local favorites like tom yum goong or kaeng kiao waan green curry, all made with top notch ingredients, make it a point to sample the restaurant's Middle Eastern and Lebanese influenced menu. Mouth-watering hummus, baba ghanouj, khibbe, and other treats are executed perfectly, with a presiding Lebanese chef ensuring authenticity to rival anything you'll find at nearby "Soi Arab," only here it's done with a bit more flair and elegance.
Even better, make sure to leave room for dessert and some unique drinks. The restaurant launched a one of a kind "Choco Bar," where master mixologists create chocolate cocktails and mocktails, paying homage to Mövenpick's Swiss roots as a purveyor of chocolate excellence. In this new bar experience, guests can choose their level of darkness, ranging from 70%-90% of the highest grade fine Swiss chocolate. The drink menu features some 15 cocktails and mocktails, both hot and cold, with standouts such as the Choco Castro, highly recommended for the guys (comprised of Hennessy V.S.O.P, Bailey's Irish Cream, 90% Swiss chocolate, rum, and cream), and for the ladies a Brody, made with white chocolate vodka, Bailey's, strawberry sauce, and cream.
The food is divine, there is a selection of New World wines from around the globe, and with its relaxing setting surrounded by plants and large bay windows, Lelawadee is the ideal place to escape from Bangkok's hot and hectic pace.
