Thousands of couples cruise into St. Thomas every year, owing to its reputation as a perfect place for one-on-one snuggle time. There are so many places to bond with your boo that a half-day is simply not enough time to try them all! You'll have to forego something no matter what you choose, so pick wisely. Here are some suggested itineraries, based on personality type.
Urban explorers: Catch a bus from the cruise ship dock into Charlotte Amalie, the capital city, for some wandering, browsing and noshing. Steal a smooch in one of the secluded cobblestone alleyways between Main Street and the waterfront, which were once traversed by lovers from centuries past. Make a beeline into the Belgian Chocolate Factory, which features chocolate-covered strawberries and other romance-inducing sweets. If an engagement is in your future, stop into one of the numerous jewelry shops such as AH Riise, Diamonds International, or Bernard Passman. Dining options abound, as well: couples love the second-story Tavern on the Waterfront, which boasts ocean views, an intimate environment, and high-class food. After eating, spend some time poking your head into the historical landmarks dotted around the perimeter of the downtown area, like the 17th century Fort Christian, the 99 Steps, the Camille Pissarro Gallery, or the sand-floor synagogue.

Active adventurers: Experts say that participating in high-energy or heart-pounding activities can actually draw couples closer together. With this in mind, head over to Virgin Islands Ecotours, where the three-hour kayak-hike-snorkel tours allow you to work every muscle in your body while learning about the mangrove ecosystem. The kayaks are built for two, so you'll be forced to learn how to paddle in tandem – a skill that translates well to relationships! For an even more adrenaline-surging experience, head down to the Adventure Center at the Marriott hotel, and blast out of the water with St. Thomas Jetriders. This unique experience involves strapping a water-propelled jet pack on your back, getting in the ocean, then riding around 30 feet above the surface.

Quiet romantics: Sometimes a couple just wants to relax on the beach and gaze into each others eyes while hearing only the sound of the ocean, breeze and birds. A great place to do this is Secret Harbour beach, which sits in an out-of-the-way cove in St. Thomas's east end. Squeeze into a secluded nook near the far right side of the beach and pretend like you're the only two people on earth. Dive into the gloriously clear water for some excellent snorkeling, then dig your toes into the silky white sand while watching a glorious sunset – this is one of the best spots on the island to see the sun go down, weather permitting. The onsite beach bar serves killer drinks, ahi tuna nachos, and gourmet pizza.

Another way to relax while ramping up the romance is with a couple's massage. One of the best places for this is at the Journeys spa at Sugar Bay Resort, also near the east end. After your tandem rubdown, spend some time in the hot tub or just chilling in the quiet room. Then get silly on the bumper boats or mini-golf course, part of the onsite amusement center operated by Winners.
