Frank's Campari Bar, Peckham — Photo courtesy of dhruboFor some foreign visitors to London, familiar with British television since the 1980s, Peckham is synonymous with a great comic TV series, 'Only Fools and Horses'. For many others, Peckham doesn't even feature on the normal tourist trail. But for Londoners, and those wishing to 'keep it real', you need to hot foot it down to Peckham in the South of the City to experience one of London's latest fads, 'pop ups'. This time it comes in the form of a brilliant bar with a great atmosphere and an even cooler view right across London Town; that place is Frank's Cafe and Campari bar. The bright red awning makes the place a destination hotspot, and when it's not protecting you from the admittedly hard to find sun, it can shelter you from the rain too! The people that come to this place are great fun and you can chill out with your friends, relax with a sundowner, or meet some new people and party hard on the roof. Perhaps not the best place for those afraid of heights, but for people who don't feel like braving the queues for the London eye during the Olympics this summer, then this place will refresh you and provide you with a great view to boot.
[PHOTO_207711]The place is run by Frank Boxer and Michael Davies, who met whilst working in a London pub. As long as you're not scared of heights, make your way to the top of the multi storey carpark, and you won't be disappointed. Relax with Campari, Prosecco or a bottled beer, and if you get Peckish in Peckham, you can nibble on the ever changing bistro food they provide. Everything from herby sausages to buttered courgettes. The crowd is young, creative and fun. Nearest tube, Peckham Rye Station. Check out their website for opening times and any changes to location.
