In Brighton, apart from the high street, there are two main shopping areas, the North Laines and the Laines, or Lanes which chacterise the independent quirky nature of this city. Just 50 minutes by train from London, Brighton makes a great day out, and offers up a bit of something for everyone. Walking through the North Laines, you can buy Vegetarian shoes, tuck in to delicious healthy fare at Infinity Foods, or Food for Friends and order a cappucino to go. There are micro breweries here, great pubs, and plush cocktail bars. You can pick up antiques, second hand clothes and brilliant independent dress and shoe shops. Spread out over a number of small cobbled streets, Brighton is a great place to get lost in and just go with the flow. It has a studenty vibe, but a lot of the places have gone upmarket too in the last few years, so bargains are fewer and further between, but the independent nature of this place makes it a haven for magpies and dedicated shoppers alike.
