Brixton is famous for lots of things, but two of the most interesting in terms of attractions are the Brixton Windmill available for free bookable visits and guided tours; and a private house where the artist Van Gogh lived whilst staying in London. The house has now been auctioned off, and is not yet a public museum but it's worth checking out the borough for those two attractions alone, as well as the fact that on the eponymously named, Electric Avenue, Brixton was in fact the first borough in London to have electrically lit street lamps.
