Salt Lake’s city center has a healthy smattering of boutique shops. Ranging from bicycle vendors to specialty book sellers, these stand scattered among the banks and financial centers of Downtown. It also holds a great and varied collection of art galleries, which range from large and formal, to tiny and indie. Yet, Salt Lake City has very few establishments that combine the retail and gallery business. Enter: Blonde Grizzly, one of the most lively, unique and hip gallery-slash-boutiques in Utah, and a huge hit among the city's young and hip crowd. At once peddling prints, artisan t-shirts and handmade crafts, Blonde Grizzly also hosts a running stream of exhibits by local and national artists.
An instant hit from the start, Blonde Grizzly opened in the summer of 2010 and immediately began accumulating awards and recognition. After just two years, Blonde Grizzly outgrew its original space and, in May 2012, relocated just a few blocks to its present location. Just as busy as ever, this shop participates regularly in gallery strolls, and keeps a busy events schedule of its own.
Winner of City Weekly’s “Best Alternative Gallery” in 2011 and “Best Local-Pop Gallery” in 2012, this little gem warrants a visit from Salt Lake City’s right-brained visitors - particularly those young and into the indie scene.
