The Himalayan Kitchen opened its doors in 2005, and instantly earned a diehard following of regular patrons. A cozy hole-in-the-wall, this restaurant was immediately adored by Salt Lake City residents and visitors alike. Serving the city's best traditional Nepali and Indian cuisine, this restaurant earned wild success - especially considering its rather simplistic, homey setting. In fact, its reputation was so good that it was even described in a June 6, 2010 New York Times article.
With its kitchen cooking up pages and pages worth of mouth-watering meat and vegetarian dishes – including curry, tandoori, and specialty Nepali plates - how could this restaurant get any better? As it turns out, an all-new location and an attractively colorful dining room would enhance the already superb dining experience. After nearly two years of design and construction, the Himalayan Kitchen opened its new doors - immediately around the corner from its former location.
Making the Himalayan Kitchen even cooler: owner, Surya Bastakoti, a native of Nepal, is a para-glider and the owner of Mt. Pumori Trekking and Expeditions.
Stop by the Himalayan Kitchen for their outstanding lunch buffet, served 11:30-2:30 Mon-Sat. Located in Downtown Salt Lake City, the Himalayan Kitchen is equally popular among business persons, tourists, and students alike.
