Salt Lake City has an unending list of coffeehouses and coffee roasters – which is a great feature for many people! However, the tea drinkers of this fair city have substantially fewer options, especially when it comes to fine teas. Were it not for The Tea Grotto, Salt Lake City would have no specialty seller of loose-leaf teas whatsoever. After eight years in its Sugarhouse location, this beloved boutique is changing its ownership and location.

Now open in southeast downtown, The Tea Grotto still offers its enormous selection of fine teas and herbal drinks. The list of teas sold at this shop includes black, green, white, herbal, oolong, yerba mate, rooibos, and various artisan teas. But it isn't just the retail portion of The Tea Grotto that makes it stand out. Run by true tea aficionados, The Tea Grotto serves as a community center for tea appreciation. The Tea Grotto keeps a busy schedule of fun, educational, and even spiritual tea-related events.

On Sundays, for example, if you stop by at 10am, you can join for an hour-long tea meditation session. If you prefer afternoon and evening events, you can check out the Wednesday Free Tea Tastings at 6pm or the Artisan Tea Bar 12–6pm on Saturday.

If you're looking for an exceptional treat coordinated by experts in the field, take part in The Tea Grotto's tea-and-chocolate pairings. Available at whenever the shop is open, The Tea Grotto offers small bites of specialty chocolates to match their various teas. If you're convinced by these pairings, you can purchase the same chocolate to bring home with your tea.
