Affordable and plentiful: a bounty of budget hotels across the Salt Lake Valley

In most major cities, the concept of “Budget Hotel” seems to be a contradiction in terms. However, in the Salt Lake Valley, this is actually not the case. In fact, Salt Lake City and its surrounding areas offer many, many options in budget accommodations, allowing visitors to pick their location based on brand and location.

Air travelers may find it quite surprising that hotels immediately near the Salt Lake International Airport are actually among the cheapest in the entire valley - and state of Utah. With prices at some of these hotels starting in the $40 range, many visitors to Salt Lake City opt to stay in these hotels, even if they never plan to fly. Given the airport’s location just five minutes west of Downtown Salt Lake City, you may consider looking into the airport-vicinity hotels if low prices are high priority.

Visitors hoping to stay closer to the heart of Downtown, and wishing to have walking access to its many cultural, financial, and culinary amenities, will find that - even in the main downtown hotel district itself - many familiar national brand lodging establishments offer rooms starting in the $50 range. Not bad, considering that some of their hoity-toity neighbors often add another “0” to that figure.

Of course, if you neither wish to stay downtown nor near the airport, you still have plenty of options. Perhaps you’re in town visiting friend or family in the southern or central part of the valley, or even north of town in Bountiful. In any case, you’ll find a budget-friendly hotel to match your location preferences.
