Starting October 10th, you'll be able to catch this latest Stephen Schwartz musical at Seattle's Paramount Theatre. The run is relatively short - 47 shows from October 10 through November 17 - so you'll want to get your tickets early.
The Broadway-hit show is touring the world, and over 2 million people in North America have caught performances, and over 30 million have seen the show worldwide. Seattle has sent several shows to Broadway, and are a touring stop for many shows once they've had their initial run in the Great White Way. Based on the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is one of the most successful Broadway musicals of all time, and currently has an international and a North American tour, as well as long-term engagements in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York (of course) and an over-five-year run in London's West End that is currently booking shows through the beginning of 2013.
The Paramount Theatre officially opened in 1928, and was first built for showing films and Vaudeville shows. The theatre was built by Paramount Pictures, who was busily ensuring that the public would have a way to view their newest product - films - by building theatres in cities all around the country. Today, the interior decor has been modernized but still recalls the original Beaux Arts style.
