This small, revamped, hipster music venue proves a favorite among locals for the comfortable atmosphere, ample seating, decently priced covers and quality of shows by up-and-coming but still obscure rock bands. The stage here is low for a face-to-face experience. Early birds hang out in the sectioned-off bar area up front (called Betty's Room) to enjoy drinks before or after the set begins. Though Ballard has several options for catching live music, this is one of the more intimate and cozy, in our opinion. Come along to people watch and enjoy the bar scene, even if you're not attending a show.

- Bars: "Hang out in the front bar area (Betty's Room), where there's no cover and a photo booth."
- Early Entertainment, Live Music: "Go for Kung Fu Grindhouse. Described on their site as "guerilla splatter cinema," this collection of unearthed cinematic gems played back to back for free on certain nights is nothing but a good time."
- Best for Bars Because: This small, Ballard hipster music venue proves a favorite among locals for the comfortable atmosphere, decently-priced covers and quality of shows by up-and-coming bands.
- Best for Early Entertainment Because: The newly-renovated Sunset Tavern hosts talented acts in a cozy, intimate space; look for occasional early start times, or simply catch the first few acts.
