When you think of wineries in British Columbia, the Okanagan region springs to mind for most. Tthe Gulf Islands might also come to mind, but there are some fantastic wineries in the Lower Mainland, just a short drive from Vancouver.
There are quite a few wineries popping up in the Lower Mainland and you could easily plan a trip to visit a few in one day. Domaine de Chaberton is a favorite for locals because the grounds are beautiful, the tasting room offers plenty of wines to sample, and lunch at Bacchus Bistro will make you feel like you're flight away from Vancouver.
After a lovely drive through the rural roads, you will find yourself in the parking lot of a pleasant looking building and out front you will be greeted by plenty of picnic tables to enjoy some nosh and a glass of wine. When you walk into the main door, you are in the tasting lobby where you will be surrounded by bottles of wine and happy looking guests that are sampling some of the locally made goods. There’s a large menu of wines to choose from and you’re invited to try three. You will see grapes like Siegerrebe, Syrah and Gamay Noir, to name just a few.

You can order a glass of wine from the tasting room and take it outside to sit on a picnic and enjoy your surroundings. After you have warmed up to the winery, you may go on a tour through the vineyard, wine making room, barrel room and the bottling room. The tour is quite informative and they’re happy to answer your questions. Bacchus Bistro is really the most ideal way to enjoy their wines on the premise because the dining room overlooks the vineyard and the food is as gorgeous as the setting.
Should you be making the most of your wine sampling, Township 7 Vineyards & Winery, Neck of the Woods Winery and Blackwood Lane Winery are all in the area.
Fort Langley is a short drive away from Domaine de Chaberton and is a charming little town with antique shops, unique boutiques, National historic sites, and is just plain lovely to have a walk around.

If you're craving a day of wine tasting, but don't have the time to make it to the Okanagan, Langley is definitely an option worth exploring for a day trip from Vancouver.
