  • Degraves St in Melbourne

Melbourne is well-renowned for its thriving cafe culture. One of the highlights of the CBD is wandering through the many hidden lanes and alleyways and stumbling across wonderfully quirky bars and cafes. If it's a cafe, you're bound to have a quality coffee. Melbournians know good coffee and definitely take pride in their barista skills. So, why not take your other half out for a delicious caffeine hit or tasty breakfast in the heart of the city? Degraves St. is a popular location, but wandering around with your sweetie is a fantastic way to make new discoveries.  Take the 'risk' and avoid chain coffee houses; you'll both be better off for it and what's more romantic than a cute and intimate setting?

    China Town

If you're looking to do something fun and a little bit special with your partner, Melbourne's China Town is a great casual dinner location. Little Bourke St (in the heart of the CBC) is littered with Asian restaurants. Although most of the restaurants may not look like much, you'll find that meals here are authentic, delicious and incredibly inexpensive. • City Circle Tram

    City Circle Trams

Trams are a symbol of Melbourne and are a simple and fast way to get around town. Keep an eye open for the stand-out red 'City Circle' tram, which as the name suggests, circles the city and is in place for the convenience of visitors. These cute, classic-style trams are both a novel and practical way of getting around and are a nicer option for couples than a taxi or train. The best part is that the city circle tram is free to ride, which helps with avoiding the hassle of purchasing a Myki card (our new transport ticketing system much like the Oyster card in London) and also provides a great way to see the city as you travel!

  • MCG and Rod Laver Arena

    Home of Sports

For couples who love their sports, Melbourne has an array of sporting and entertainment facilities throughout the city. Best known are the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and Melbourne Park (home to Rod Laver and Hisense Area's where the Australian Open is held). It's also the birthplace of Australian Rules Football, our state's most beloved sport, created in the early 1850s by two elite Melbourne boys colleges as a means to keep their cricketers fit during the winter time. The MCG is the home of the AFL (Australian Football League) and worth looking into for anyone with an interest in our great game.

  • Crown Casino

    Crown Casino

The Crown Casino complex is located along the city's Southbank on the Yarra River (also an ideal spot for a romantic nighttime stroll). It's more than a casino; it's also home to swanky hotels, high-end fashion stores, fine-dining restaurants, bars, nightclubs, spa centers, cinemas, arcades. . .pretty much anything you could imagine, Crown will have one somewhere. The venue is also known for its water fountain shows and incredible fire displays along the riverside.  It's well worth catching a show in the evening (during summer the displays happen on the hour from 9pm until 1am). Great spot for a beautiful date or extended stay, but should the luxury of the casino prove to be slightly outside the budget, it's still worth having a wander through the elaborate complex.
