Whether you want to have the dream wedding you missed out on, renew your commitment after a rough patch or simply celebrate a milestone in marriage (10, 25 or 50 years), a vow renewal lets you say to each other that you'd do it all over again.
Instead of the same old ceremony at the usual suspects – churches, hotels or backyards – renew your "I do's" in one of these truly special ways.
During the Caribbean's largest vow renewal
August is Romance Awareness Month in Aruba, and that means it's time for the annual Caribbean Vow Renewal Ceremony on beautiful Eagle Beach. 2017's inaugural event brought together 320 lovebirds for an evening of twinkling lights, tropical decor and local music.
On the Playa at Burning Man
This trippy festival in the Nevada desert isn't for everyone, but couples looking for a creative and spiritual place to say "I do" again (and an excuse to wear a wild getup for the event) will find it on the Playa. It's complete with a stellar backdrop for photos and a built-in after-party with 70,000 friends and strangers.
With Elvis initiating in Las Vegas
There's something undeniably romantic about running away to Las Vegas to get married. If your wedding was a more formal affair, a vow renewal offers a fun opportunity for a kitschy ceremony officiated by Elvis in a tiny chapel, all while living it up like a king at any number of luxury hotels.
Under the sea
You don't even need to know how to scuba dive (or swim for that matter) to channel your inner mermaid and renew your vows beneath the sea surrounded by colorful marine life. Dive operators and resorts across the globe will help with the logistics in romantic destinations like Bora Bora, Key Largo, the Bahamas or the Maldives.
Soaring in a hot air balloon
While you won't have room for much more than an officiator and the pilot on board, an in-air ceremony on a hot air balloon provides views that you'd be hard-pressed to beat. For an extra colorful view, plan your renewal during the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta in October.
At zero gravity
You could quite literally get swept off your feet all over again if you splurge on a zero gravity ceremony. Let's just hope neither of you get motion sickness during this weightless experience.
In a national park
Stellar photos of your special moment are almost guaranteed when you plan your vow renewal in a national park. Ceremonies are often rustic, no-frills affairs by necessity (and special use permits are often required) but the trade-off is a spectacular setting, whether it be Joshua Tree or Yosemite.
On an Alaskan glacier
If you've chosen to renew your vows, chances are you're not really worried about getting cold feet. Unless the ceremony takes place on a glacier that is. Alaska is a popular option, with destinations like Mendenhall Glacier, Matanuska Glacier and Herbert Glacier setting the scene.
In a castle at midnight
England's medieval Tutbury Castle hosts dramatic midnight ceremonies lit by torches with the ruins of a Norman castle as the backdrop. Each ceremony includes a traditional handfasting, a neopagan ceremony once recognized as legally binding by the church during the late medieval period.
At a Renaissance festival
If you missed out on your dream 16th-century wedding the first time around, now's your chance for the full royal experience. Renaissance festivals around the country offer packages for vow renewals, some including a carriage procession, sword arch, herald trumpet and floral hair garlands.
