Stellar photos of your special moment are almost guaranteed when you plan your vow renewal in a national park. Ceremonies are often rustic, no-frills affairs by necessity (and special use permits are often required) but the trade-off is a spectacular setting, whether it be Joshua Tree or Yosemite.

England's medieval Tutbury Castle hosts dramatic midnight ceremonies lit by torches with the ruins of a Norman castle as the backdrop. Each ceremony includes a traditional handfasting, a neopagan ceremony once recognized as legally binding by the church during the late medieval period.

If you missed out on your dream 16th-century wedding the first time around, now's your chance for the full royal experience. Renaissance festivals around the country offer packages for vow renewals, some including a carriage procession, sword arch, herald trumpet and floral hair garlands.
