  • American Institute of Architects Sandcastle Competition

    May 31, 2014 Each summer since 1986, Galveston's East Beach has played host to the American Institute of Architects (A1a) Sandcaslte Competition, one of the world's largest. Teams of architects, engineers and designers compete for the prestigious Golden Bucket Award. This year, in addition to enjoying the sand sculptures, guests have the chance to participate in an attempt to set a world record for most aluminum cans collected in eight hours by dropping off their recyclables at collection points throughout the beach.

  • Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting Competition

    June 19-21, 2014
    June 2014 will mark the 14th installment of the Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting Competition, one of the largest invitational sand sculpting events in the northeast. This year, 10 sculptors will compete for $15,000 worth of prizes and award money, while attendees can learn about sand sculpting and view the illuminated entries, which will remain on display for several weeks after the prizes have been handed out.

  • Cannon Beach Sand Castle Contest

    June 21, 2014
    In 2014, Cannon Beach will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of its annual Sand Castle Contest. This summer day at the beach (with lovely Haystack Rock serving as a backdrop), sculptors of all ability levels race to build their creative, 3D works of art before high tide washes them away again. The event wraps up with a beach bonfire and free s'mores.

    Blue Water Sand Fest

    July 4-6, 2014
    Michigan's first and only masters sand sculpting competition will enter its second year this Independence Day Weekend along the lakeshore of Port Huron. Professional and amateur contests, live music, demos and a family-friendly kid zone round out this summer event.

  • Sandsations

    July 16-20, 2014
    Sandsations on Long Beach, Wash. features entry levels for everyone - from children to professionals - and includes a free sand sculpting workshop to help kick start the creations of aspiring sculptors. Other festival events include a fireworks display and beach bonfire complete with free s'mores for the first 100 guests.

  • Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival

    July 18-20, 2014

    Each July, 15 master sand sculptors battle for glory at the Revere Beach National Sand Sculpting Festival in Revere Beach, Mass., in an event that draws 300,000 visitors and spectators each year. In addition to the sandy works of art, the festival will feature live entertainment, sand sculpting lessons for kids, gourmet food trucks and fireworks.

  • U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge

    August 29-September 1, 2014 Each Labor Day Weekend, San Diego hosts the U.S. Sand Sculpting Challenge, as masters from around the world come to craft jaw-dropping 3D creations. Some 300 tons of sand get dropped onto the city's B Street cruise terminal pier, and live music, sand boxes and rides for kids, food trucks and tall ships add to the fun.

  • Virginia Beach Neptune Festival

    September 26-28, 2014 The city of Virginia Beach, Va. bids farewell to summer with its annual Neptune Festival. The crowning jewel in the festival's event lineup is the International Sandsculpting Championship, where 12 solo sculptors and 10 doubles teams compete for sand castle glory. The festival will also feature an amateur division, where schools and groups can participate.

  • Siesta Key Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition

    November 14-18, 2014 The sugary sand of Siesta Key, Fla. is some of the best in the world, which makes the Crystal Classic Master Sand Sculpting Competition a favorite with both competitors and attendees. The schedule includes masters and amateur competitions, sculpting demonstrations, speed-carving events and live music.

  • American Sand Sculpting Championship

    November 21-30, 2014 The American Sand Sculpting Championship, a late season event on Fort Myers Beach, brings three levels of sands sculptors from around the world to this beautiful southwest Florida beach, to work with more than 1,000 tons of white sand. Attendees have chances to participate in the action, with events like "Quick Sand," where two sculptors go head-to-head to sculpt an audience-chosen subject in 10 minutes.
