Foliage tours are a must when visiting New England in the fall. The vibrant colors of the changing leaves lining the sides of roads, front lawns, parks, and forests are simply spectacular. A walk through the city, or drive through the country can allow excellent viewing of the trees in their pre-winter glory, but not quite as densely packed as you'll find on a train ride through New Hampshire's White Mountains.
For a spectacular view with zero distractions, take a train ride while the foliage is at its peak. The Conway Scenic railroad offers a variety of packages to ensure your ride is just what you wanted.
Trains are well equipped to give guests a ride they won't soon forget. Premium seating in the Dome (named such for the glass dome that acts as a roof and side windows offering train riders seated here a full view of all their surroundings), first class, and coach seating is offered at different price points, but to travel in style you should consider the higher price of first class or premium seating, especially since coach cars are "naturally air-conditioned" leaving the windows as your cooling style of choice.
First class cabins have comfortable over sized seats and some cars even have large wicker chairs facing the windows. Dining cars are equipped to handle a simple lunch or special dinner, while you pass through the White Mountains, but be sure to plan for that in advance as some require reservations.
A ride on the Conway Scenic Railroad during the fall foliage season will certainly satisfy your desire to leaf peep.
