  • Steep dunes lead to the shore

    Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a hidden gem in Empire, Michigan.  It's not your typical beach as it lies on the shores of Lake Michigan.  Yet, the sugary sand and tranquility of this unexpected haven rivals that of most conventional beaches.

  • Paranga Beach in Mykonos

    Mykonos, Greece

Beaches of Mykonos offer the best of both worlds, especially Paranga Beach.  During the day, calm crowds linger and sunbathe on the clothing-optional stretch of golden sand.  By night, music plays and the beach party gets started.

  • Chill out in Santa Barbara

    Santa Barbara, CA

Santa Barbara has so many beaches to choose from that you could pick a different one each day of the week.  Each beach also offers something unique to sun-worshipers as one may be suitable for a nice sandy jog with Fido while another is great for working on your tan and striking up a conversation with surfers.

  • The golden sands of Zlatni Rat

    Bol, Croatia

For a diverse and beautiful beach experience, the Zlatni Rat in Croatia can't be beat.  Located on a promontory, the shape of the beach changes with the tide.  The wind here also attracts windsurfers, which makes for great entertainment without ever having to leave your lounge chair.

  • Sunrise over Montauk

    Montauk, NY

At the tip of Long Island, the beaches of Montauk offer a more laid-back atmosphere than those of its Hamptons counterparts.  You can camp in an RV at Gin Beach, and be there for the breathtaking sunrise over an empty shoreline.

  • Surfing and para-sailing in Virginia Beach

    Virginia Beach, VA

Home to a Naval Air Station, you might expect the beaches of Virginia Beach to be a prime party spot.  But, the beaches are actually a great fit for families, couples, and singles.  Dunes offer privacy and seclusion, and the lack of crowds allows for some relaxation.  And, who knows? Single ladies might meet an "officer and gentleman" while lounging on the sand.

  • Relaxing shores of Kennebunk Beach

    Kennebunkport, MN

Within walking distance of town, Kennebunk Beach is a somewhat small, but gorgeous place to take the entire family.  The beach becomes a bit more lively during the peak summer months, but you can't beat the comfortable temperatures of the Maine coastline.
