In a rural area just down the road from the Twin Cities of Minneapolis-St. Paul, one farmer, Sever Peterson had an idea. He and his wife Sharon had heard of the popularity of the castle garden mazes in Europe and thought why not have one right there in Shakopee, Minnesota? After starting in 1997, hundreds of families have enjoyed Farmer Sever's elaborate corn mazes each year, in addition to many other fun activities.
Going strong in its 16th year, there's always a big buildup of anticipation to see the unveiling of the maze's new unique design. A map is even available for printing from their web site, giving an extra advantage to those who like to plan out their route ahead of time.

Along with the corn maze, there are other great attractions and things to do at the Fall Festival. Kids can spend many happy hours on the giant slide, at the magician's or wildlife show, cheering at the pig races or having some straight-from-the-farm roasted corn. There's a petting zoo, a straw bale maze and even a corn pit for jumping in or burying yourself up to the neck.
The maze is open on weekends from September 14-October 28. Admission for children ages 3 and under costs $3, while everyone else pays $13.. So many things are included in the price of the ticket, including a visit to the Barnyard, where you can practice milking a replica cow. Live music plays all afternoon.
