If you haven't caught wind of Greenville, South Carolina as a hot city to visit, the weekend of Sept 18-21 gives you a great reason to go. The highly anticipated Euphoria food and wine festival will once again take over the downtown, to the delight of foodie travelers and locals. Set in venues up and down the city's award-winning Main Street (which includes its own natural waterfall!), Euphoria helps food lovers celebrate culinary excellence, while enjoying the arts at the same time. Many patrons of this annual September event have come for the foodie scene, then found themselves enchanted by Greenville's idyllic setting. The city's twinkling, tree-shrouded Main Street leads to a massive green space that includes the scenic Reedy River Falls. The entire downtown area beckons pedestrians to stroll and discover the many restaurants, cafes, lounges and performance venues which have made it so robust in recent years.
The surrounding area - dubbed "the Upstate" - has seen a real boon in all things culinary, from distilleries and breweries to restaurants. The setting - in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains just below Asheville, N.C., is attracting more and more quality makers and producers to the area.
Proceeds from Euphoria will support a local non-profit called Local Boys do Good, which funnels the money to other local non-profits. Sponsors include the The Cliffs luxury communities, Thomas Creek Brewery and the Greenville Visitors and Convention Bureau (#yeahthatgreenville).
To order tickets, visit the Euphoria website here or go to euphoriagreenville.com.
Greenville's GSP Airport - also a sponsor - is serviced by all the major airlines as well as Allegiant. The Charlotte (CLT) and Asheville (AVL) airports are both within an hour and a half, and Atlanta's Hartsfield (ATL) is less than 3 hours by car. Greenville is located on I-85, betweeen Atlanta and Charlotte.
