Gatlinburg and the Pigeon Forge area, located southeast of Knoxville, are favorite family friendly destinations, and they're also highly recommended for breakfast enthusiasts (Ron Swanson, anyone?) Pancakes in particular are all the rage in this region of Tennessee, and after you've seen what these three spots have to offer, you'll know why.
The Pancake Pantry is the oldest pancake house in Tennessee. Sweet potato, buckwheat, wild blueberry, pecan, and (of course) chocolate chip pancakes are among the favorites at this rustic locale.
The Log Cabin Pancake House was established in 1979 and is housed in (surprise, surprise) a delightful log cabin with a number of roaring fireplaces. Walnut and cornmeal pancakes are menu highlights here.
The Little House of Pancakes doubles as a favorite breakfast and lunch establishment for Gatlinburg locals. Any of their buttermilk pancakes are sure to satisfy even the most devoted aficionado, and it's also recommended that you stop back in for lunch and try the country fried steak.
