Maria, Georg von Trapp and their children fled Nazi Germany in the 1940s and eventually settled on a farm that would become the Trapp Family Lodge. The surrounding area reminded the musical family of their former home in Austria and while they were not touring the United States, they ran a music camp there. Eventually, a 27-room lodge opened to overnight guests. Over time, the property expanded into a 2500-acre family-friendly resort featuring Austrian-inspired accommodations and numerous activities centered around the gorgeous outdoors.
