Memory Vintage is a delightful little second-hand store, located in the trendy district of Prenzlauer Berg (well known for its vintage and boutique shops, as well as flea markets). There are two specific things which make this a particularly nice place to visit:
The first being that all-important personal touch. All items have been collected by the owner over a number of years, according to her own tastes. It is this which gives you a sense of rummaging through a friends personal items rather than just another cluttered store filled with random junk. The owner is also extremely lovely and happy to talk with you about anything you find, its history etc. On offer is a great selection of hand-picked items (you can expect to find things dating all the way back to the 30's, but it's predominately 50's and 80's retro pieces), be they designer fashion items, accessories, vintage magazines, home-wares or toys. Everything is very reasonably priced simply because the business has stemmed from the owners love of fashion and her passion for collecting vintage pieces, not from intentionally setting out to make money.
The second notable attribute is that the store has its very own cafe next door (of the same name, run by the owners husband) where you can grab a mid-shop coffee and snack whilst contemplating all of your potential purchases. It's actually a really lovely cafe to sit and relax in, with a central bookcase housing an array of interesting design books as well as a kiddies corner with a great selection of toys. For those who have worked up an appetite, you'll find delicious soups and quiches and a fantastic selection of hot and cold beverages. Memory Cafe — Photo courtesy of Memory Berlin Official Facebook
