Rated by Outside magazine as the #1 Bike Town in the US, Tucson offers scenic and challenging trails, cycling clubs, and one of the best environments for training in the world. This bike-friendly city ensures that its cyclists are taken care of, and motorists are respectful and cautious while you're getting your Lance Armstrong on (well, most of the time).
The Trails
Boasting magnificent views of the Sonoran Desert, the trails of Tucson are well maintained and extensive. The Urban Loop is 55 miles of car-free trail that allows cyclists to train without the added concern of bring clipped by drivers. The trails range from easy to highly technical and mountain biking is a must in this desert cycling oasis. Don't have the right gear? Cycling shops abound in Tuscon, so whether you need new riding shorts or some heavy-duty tires, you're sure to find it here.

The Clubs
Road and mountain biking clubs are a great way to meet new people and push yourself. Dozens of these clubs exist in the area and they are known for hosting weekly and even daily gatherings and rides. Furthermore, if you're interested in giving back, many of the Tucson cycling clubs organize races that support a variety of causes, including breast cancer, Toys for Tots, and veterans.
