Crested Butte is a mountain oasis far removed from the crowds and chaos of Colorado's biggest ski resorts. CB's legendary steep runs and feature-rich terrain make it the ideal ski mountain for those to want to go big and play hard. Thanks to Crested Butte's small-town feel, there's a laid back vibe that resonates through the restaurants, bars and shops. Perhaps it's the 400+ inches of annual snowfall that keeps everybody in a good mood?
While the ski mountain has it's share of green and blues for beginners, Crested Butte really shines on its moderate to expert terrain. Powdery steeps are fun without being overwhelming and the sheer amount of options on well-spaced tree runs keeps you on your toes. Bumps, drops and big hits can be found on nearly all the black diamond runs and the more you stay in the trees, the more fun you'll find. In bounds runs have a distinct backcountry feel to them and it's possible to run the same trail dozens of times with new twists and turns on each run. The upshot is even though Crested Butte does not cover the expansive acreage of rival resorts, it more than makes up for it with high quality, dynamic trails.
When the sun goes down, the two villages that make up Crested Butte come alive. In town, the nightlife is energetic and funky. Higher on the mountain at Crested Butte Village, elegant dining and luxury accommodations await. It's the perfect mix of class and character with a distinct style that is unlike any other Colorado ski town.
