Make your own sweet potato chips

Sweet potato chips are a nice change of pace from the regular ol' spud variety. Not only do they carry a crispy version of that signature yam flavor, but they feel healthier (and really are), so you can be smug while binging your way through a bag.

But if you really want to feel proud of yourself while doing an unnecessary amount of snacking, make your own sweet potato chips. This honey-glazed, baked version really is quite healthy in moderation and it's just as good a few days old as it is fresh out of the oven.

Although, who are we kidding? There's no way you're going to make it a few days without eating the whole batch.

  • 2 sweet potatoes (about 1 1/4 lbs.), peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • To taste salt
  • To taste pepper
  • To taste salt


  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. With veggie slicer, mandoline or food processor, thinly slice sweet potatoes.
  3. Arrange potato slices in a single layer on a lightly oiled cookie sheet.
  4. Combine butter and honey in a small bowl; toss the potatoes.
  5. Bake four to five minutes per side. Sprinkle with cinnamon, salt and pepper to taste.
