Nobody does cocktails better than The Dead Rabbit, winner of Top 50's World's Best Bar in 2016 – the most prestigious cocktail award you can get.

Irish duo Jack McGarry and Sean Muldoon reinvented the concept of what it means to be an Irish bar when they created a space that's one part no-frills Irish pub and one part cocktail cathedral.

One thing's for sure: In addition to having some damn fine mixed drinks, they also have the best selection of Irish whisky in New York. Their Rising Phoenix takes some of that whisky – Teeling Single Grain – and marries it with Fernet Branca, Giffard Ginger, Marie Framboise, and vanilla syrup to turn it from a delicious sipping whisky into an elegant cocktail.

You might have to do a little shopping at the liquor store to make this one, but once you do, it'll take you less than 5 minutes to make. Slainte!

  • .5 oz Fernet Branca
  • .5 oz Giffard Ginger
  • .75 oz Marie Framboise
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla syrup
