Airport-themed reality shows are becoming quite popular, it seems. The Travel Channel itself has several series lined up, and as Jaunted says, “the outlook for addictive series looks very good.” Here are a few things you have to look forward to.
Miami International Airport (not the real title): The premise for this docu-series on the Travel Channel actually sounds awesome, offering “behind the scenes insights into a day in the life of employees as they go about their tasks serving nearly 100,000 travelers daily.” In doing so, the airport hopes to show viewers how so many of the hard-working employees go about their daily business. We’ve heard a lot of complaints from disgruntled customers about the Miami International Airport, so maybe this will put things in a little lighter perspective.
Baggage Battles: We’ve all got baggage, it seems. Another new Travel Channel show, this half-hour series follows three teams of “auction specialists” who travel around the globe to “snatch up unclaimed and lost personal property in an attempt to turn huge profits.” Yes, this kind of job actually exists. Oh. . .so that’s what happens with lost luggage.
BWI Marshall and Southwest Airlines: TLC is also offering a behind-the-scenes look at Southwest Airlines at Baltimore’s BWI Marshall, the airline's largest carrier. Like the Travel Channel’s series, the focus is on the day-to-day inner workings of the airline and “casts a spotlight on the airport as it undergoes a major expansion.” This also happens just after the major merger between Southwest and AirTrain.
Now we just have to sit back and wait for the shows to roll out. Stay tuned!
