As we kick off 2018, 10Best set out to find last year's best new hotels, restaurants and attractions from coast to coast. We teamed up with a panel of travel experts to nominate 20 of 2017's best new openings in each of four categories: Best New Hotel, Best New Attraction, Best New Restaurant and Best New Amusement Park Attraction.

Best New Restaurant: Monkitail in Hollywood, Fla.

The United States is home to more than a million different restaurants, according to the National Restaurant Association, with hundreds of new options opening up each year. Monkitail debuted in 2017 at the Diplomat Beach Resort and is already one of Hollywood, Florida's buzziest new restaurants.
Inspired by a Japanese izakaya, the eatery from Chef Michael Schulson features sushi, sake and shareable small plates, including wasabi ceviche, pastrami bao buns, bacon yakisoba and duck shabu shabu.
Best New Hotel: Wm. Mulherin's Sons in Philadelphia

Whether for work or for pleasure, a hotel stay can make or break a travel experience. Luckily, dozens of new hotels open their doors across the United States each year, offering travelers even greater choice in where to catch their zzz's.
An abandoned whiskey blending and bottling facility from 1890 has been repurposed into one of Philadelphia's newest properties, Wm. Mulherin's Sons. This boutique hotel features four rooms, each with king size beds, custom-crafted furniture, vintage rugs and living plants. The on-site restaurant serves rustic Italian wood-fired fare.
Best New Attraction: Wonders of Wildlife in Springfield, Mo.

From water parks and theme parks to museums and performance spaces, travelers were treated to a host of new attractions in 2017. But only one reigns supreme!
Founded by Johnny Morris, CEO of Bass Pro Shops, Springfield's Wonders of Wildlife celebrates hunting, fishing and stewardship of the land and water through 1.5 miles of immersive galleries featuring 4D dioramas and a new aquarium.
Best New Amusement Park Attraction: Haunted Mine Drop at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park

Each summer, amusement parks across the United States introduce park-goers to a new lineup of attractions, from extreme thrill rides that push our adrenaline-pumping limits to themed areas that welcome us into whole new worlds.
The past year was no exception. The Haunted Mine Drop at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park – new in 2017 – is the world's first drop ride to go underground, taking riders 110 feet inside Colorado's Iron Mountain.
