Last year, United Airlines and Continental Airlines agreed to a $3-billion merger that created the world's biggest airline, soon to be known as United Continental Airlines. And while the merger occurs during a time when many airlines are losing business due to the recession, competition, and increasing fuel prices, it also comes with some major changes that we don't often think about...for example, what will the airplanes' new design look like? Vying minds must know.
The following time-lapse video showcased by Jaunted.com tells the story of what happens when the Boeing 777 heads into the hangar for a fresh coat of paint. You might be as surprised as we were to realize how much work goes into the repainting of a plane: the entire thing is stripped, coated, and repainted with a great deal of precision and a whole lot of expertise. At times you can't even see the plane through the flurry of activity (and paint, apparently).
The design, colors and patterns used in the paint scheme are even selected with a HUGE amount of thought, and the whole thing is known as the aircraft livery. It's indeed a fine science. BUT, without further ado, here is the time-lapse video!
