Dubai is a land of superlatives: the world’s tallest building, biggest mall and largest man-made island, to name a few. Dubai’s newest odds-defying ambition? A 7,000-square-meter rainforest in the middle of the desert.
The project which will be inside of the Rosemont Hotel and Residences Dubai – two 53-foot towers run by Hilton's independent luxury brand, Curio – will be complete with a sandless beach, waterfalls, streams, adventure trails and a prehistoric Jurassic-inspired marsh, among other features.

CNN reports that sensors will detect where people are located, and control where rain falls to simulate the environment of a tropical rainforest and surround guests without getting them wet.

That rainforest likely won’t be finished until at least 2018, but until then you can visit Dubai's other indoor jungle.
Earlier this month, another tropical rainforest opened in the desert destination. The Green Planet has more than 3,000 species of plants, animals and free-flying birds, as well as a massive artificial tree trunk with planters packed with tropical flora and fauna. Its tropical environment has a regulated humidity of 70 percent and temperatures ranging from 77 to 82 degrees fahrenheit.
What’s next for Dubai? The world’s largest moon simulation? The first indoor ocean? We can’t wait to find out.
