On August 20, 2016, China opened the world's highest and longest glass-bottom bridge to tourists. This record-breaking feat of engineering extends across a canyon in Zhangjiajie – the setting that inspired the film Avatar – in Hunan Province.
From the center of the bridge, visitors feel like they're standing 984 feet above the canyon floor. Brave tourists can walk across the 1,400-foot-long bridge, and the more intrepid traveler will soon be able to bungee jump or ride a zip-line from the bridge.
