The official date of Trinidad and Tobago's independence is August 31, but the archipelagic state is already ramping up to celebrate it's 50th anniversary of independence. The islands are abuzz with steel band and military parades, community murals, sports history and icon exhibitions, and much more, now through December 31, 2012.
Expect parades, calypso festivals, free concerts and a wide array of other activities.
Trinidad is considered the cultural capital of the Caribbean, and as such it's home to a truly unique blend of cultures, along with a host of idyllic beaches and tourist attractions.
